Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. When she was just five years old and moved to Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she decided that she wanted to become an actress. She trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford in which she learned singing and acting. Before the age of ten she performed as well as taken part in a variety of Stagecoach performances and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the film adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel premiered for the first second time back in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma by way of her Oxford Theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, as well as Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been picked for the role. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut film appearance came as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was also the biggest and most popular film of 2001. Opening Saturday and Sunday the sales were unbeatable. It was highly praised by experts, as was the performance of three young actors. The widely distributed British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the Most Outstanding Young Actress in part of a feature Film. The actress was nominated for five awards for her work in the film.
